Y.E.S. - Youth Empowerment Squad

Y.E.S. is a program created by HAPO Community Credit Union for youth empowerment with community service initiatives that engages young people in a variety of volunteering and philanthropic opportunities with mentorship guidance. This program is open to all currently enrolled high school students within the Tri-Cities (9th-12th grades).

Student Scholarships

Individuals that are a part of the Youth Empowerment Squad and meet the specific scholarship requirements, will be eligible for Y.E.S. specific scholarships.

Scholarship Funds Usage

  • Freshman & Sophomores - Funds earned from this program will be paid directly to your high school and go toward a program or club of your choice.
  • Juniors - You have the choice to either give the funds to a high school club of your choice or use the funds to further your education.
  • Seniors - Scholarship funds will be made payable to the school of your choice and will go towards your education.

What Y.E.S. Members do:

  • Meet regularly with Y.E.S. committee, fellow Y.E.S. members, and your Y.E.S. mentor.
  • Learn about philanthropy through hands-on experiences in our community.
  • Interact with students from several grade levels and schools.
  • Represent Y.E.S., HAPO and the other organizations that we are collaborating with.

  • Gain valuable experience for college and the professional world.
  • Learn about community-philanthropy and the needs of our community.
  • Build a network and develop an array of connections - from students at other high schools to business leaders throughout the Tri-Cities.

When can I apply: We will begin accepting applications in September 2023.

Who can apply: Open to all currently enrolled high school students within the Tri-Cities (9th-12th grades).

How to apply: The application window is now closed.

What is the time commitment: Program runs from January through the end of April. There will be 20 community volunteer hours, 5 group meetings, and Mentor meets for 30 minutes every 2 weeks throughout the entirety of the program.
