Refer a Friend Program Terms and Conditions

General

These terms and conditions apply to the HAPO Community Credit Union Refer a Friend Program. By referring a friend or family member, claiming an offer, becoming a HAPO member as a result of a referral, or otherwise participating in the Program, you agree to be bound by these terms and conditions and new member agreements. HAPO reserves the right to modify, extend or cancel this Program at any time. The Program is void where prohibited by law. Existing HAPO members who initiate a referral in the Refer a Friend Program are defined as “Referrers.” Non-members who become a HAPO member upon accepting a referral and opening a Savings and a Checking Account (to establish a membership), are defined as “Referees.”

Eligibility

Referrers may receive $50 for each qualified referral for a new member, up to $500 (Ten (10) new members for existing members and nine (9) for new members). Qualified Referees who become a member and open a Savings and a Checking Account may receive $50.

• Must be a new member (having had no account with HAPO in the past 12 months) and agree to the Refer a Friend Program Terms & Conditions. 
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Open a new Consumer Savings and Checking Account with HAPO.
• The new account must be opened online using the referral link, as the offer is not valid in branch, over the phone, or by mail. 
• Complete registration form.
• Enroll in e-Statements via online banking within 30 days of opening your new account.
• Direct deposit(s) of $100 or more deposited into your new HAPO Checking account within 30 days of opening your new accounts.
• Also, only one referral can be used by a new member. 

Bonus Deposit Terms and Conditions

The payout of the referral bonus is directly related to the referral link that is used at the time the application is submitted. Only one (1) $50 bonus will be made per Referee (even if multiple accounts or products are opened). Within 30 days of qualification requirements being confirmed by the Credit Union, the bonus will be deposited into the checking accounts of both the Referrer and Referee. The Credit Union reserves the right to not award an bonus or to disqualify participants in its reasonable discretion, including but not limited to the following reasons: (1) ineligibility of any program participant, (2) fraudulent activity, or (3) if the Credit Union, in its sole discretion, finds that any of the Program’s terms and conditions have been violated, or (4) if the referred member has a charged off account or has closed their account within the past 12 months.

Bonuses are non-transferable, non-assignable, and cannot be redeemed or exchanged for cash, credit, or other merchandise outside of the Program. Bonuses are subject to required Internal Revenue Service (IRS) reporting. Any applicable taxes resulting from the Program are the responsibility of the recipient of the bonus.

Offer available to individuals who do not have or have not had a HAPO Savings or Checking Account in the past 12 months. Must qualify for HAPO membership, 18 years of age or older, and meet all program requirements. Must use referral link to redeem offer. Offer valid from September 22, 2025 – October 21, 2025. The value of your bonus will be reported on Form 1099-INT. Bonus will be paid out within 30 days to both Referee and Referrer after the Referee meets all program requirements.

Requirements for Referrer:

• Must be a current primary HAPO member with a Savings and a Checking Account.
• Accounts must be in good standing (no collection issues or charge-offs).
• Business-only members are not eligible for this bonus.
• Must be 18 years old or older.
• Must have a current email on file with the Credit Union.
• Referrer cannot refer themselves.

Payment of the bonus is contingent on validation of the Referee’s Tax ID Number. Charged-off accounts may not be eligible for this offer. Accounts titled as Trust Accounts, Estate, Non-Individual, and No Access are excluded from eligibility. If the Tax Identification number you provided does not match IRS records, you may not qualify to open an account. Code within your link is required and cannot be sold. Offer is subject to cancellation without notice and cannot be combined with any other offer.

Additional Conditions and Limitations

All new accounts are subject to Credit Union membership agreements, terms, and disclosures. For the purposes of this Program, former members may only qualify who do not have or have not had a HAPO Account in the past 12 months. By participating in this Program, you agree to release and hold harmless the Credit Union. You further agree that the Program and bonus are provided “as is where is.”

THERE ARE NO REPRESENTATIONS OR WARRANTIES INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO STATUTORY WARRANTIES AND CONDITIONS, WARRANTIES AND CONDITIONS OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, THIRD PARTIES RIGHTS, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT OF PROPRIETARY RIGHTS. IN NO EVENT WILL EITHER PARTY BE LIABLE TO THE OTHER FOR ANY CONSEQUENTIAL, INCIDENTAL, OR SPECIAL DAMAGES, INCLUDING ANY LOST PROFITS OR LOST SAVINGS, EVEN IF ONE PARTY HAS BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY CLAIM BY ANY THIRD PARTY.

How it works

To start earning bonuses for referring family and friends to HAPO Community Credit Union, simply pass along the referral link that was provided to you by email. By passing along this information, you are agreeing to the Terms & Conditions of this Program.

You will earn bonuses when you refer eligible individuals who open a Savings and a Checking Account (to establish a membership) and meet the below requirements. If you are becoming a HAPO member because your family member or friend told you about us, use the referral link provided to you by the existing HAPO member when opening your HAPO Savings and Checking Accounts.

Rules for Referrers (Existing Members)

• Meet all requirements listed in Requirements for Referrer.
• By participating in the Refer a Friend Program, you agree to the Refer a Friend Program Terms & Conditions.
• Only one (1) referral can be used by a new member (Referee); additional bonuses cannot be redeemed by either party for referring someone who has already claimed a referral offer.
• Referrer will receive a bonus of $50 for each eligible Referee submitted (up to 10) who qualify for membership and opens a Savings and a Checking Account (to establish a membership)

Rules for Referees (New or Prospective Members)

• New Member can claim your Refer a Friend Program bonus by using the link you shared with them, completing the Registration Form, and opening a Savings and a Checking Account.
• New member must meet the requirements for membership and for a Savings and a Checking Account, set up ACH or Direct Deposit, and enroll in e-Statements within 30 days of opening the account to take advantage of the offer.
• By providing the referral information, you are agreeing to the Refer a Friend Program Terms & Conditions.
• Only one (1) referral offer from an existing HAPO member. New members cannot claim multiple referral offers.

Additional Referral Rules

• Bonus will be paid within 30 days to both Referee and Referrer after the Referee meets all program requirements.
• Payment of the bonus is contingent on validation of the Referee’s Tax ID Number.
• Bonus will be paid via direct deposit to the members' checking accounts.
• For Referees who do not use the referral link at the time of account opening, neither party will receive a bonus for this particular referral.
• "Bonus Offer Early Account Closure Fee" may apply if account is closed within the first six months.
• Business-only members are not eligible for this program.
• This bonus cannot be combined with other offers.
• All new accounts are subject to HAPO’s standard Membership Agreement terms and conditions.

Regular Savings Account Annual Percentage Yield (APY) 0.05%, minimum to earn dividends is $0.00. Checking Account Annual Percentage Yield (APY) is .01%, minimum balance to earn dividends $2,500. Rate is subject to change. No minimum balance required to open the account.
