Our Community Spotlight series this year begins with SARC, Tri-Cities’ very own Support, Advocacy & Resource Center. January was National #HumanTraffickingAwareness Month. Although the month has come to an end, the topic is one we should recognize year-round which is why all HAPO employees are trained to know the signs of human trafficking and report suspicious behavior. HAPO is proud to support SARC's mission of providing trauma-informed crisis services, support, and advocacy to those in need. For more information visit https://lnkd.in/gNGxzwv3 and join us in spreading awareness about their vital role in our community. This past week in Washington D.C., Reyna and Francisco took the opportunity to speak with Congressman Newhouse to discuss top credit union priorities. We are working hard so that your voice is heard! #CreditUnionsAdvanceCommunities #PeopleHelpingPeople
21 GoWest credit union advocates are on the ground in Washington, D.C., this week for the Fall Hike the Hill. They are set to meet with 37 members of Congress or their key staff. The group will be discussing priorities such as interchange, cannabis banking, data privacy, Credit Union Act Modernization, and more. Some will also attend tomorrow’s monthly NCUA Board monthly meeting. The agency is considering a proposed budget with significant increases – 9.5% in the overall budget and 11% in the operating budget. John Trull, GoWest’s Vice President of Legislative Advocacy, is scheduled to testify at the meeting and encourage fiduciary prudence during this time when there are significant economic pressures on your credit union and the people you serve.
